Privacy Policy
Information You Share With Us
When you create an account, we store your username, email address, and a securely encrypted password. We also store your game history, puzzle attempts, and training progress. This is what makes the service work.
How We Use It
Your data is used only to run EliteChess: display your history, schedule your reviews, and generate analysis. We never sell or share your personal information with third parties. Period.
Playing Without an Account
The free games and the challenges work without signing up. To give everyone
the same number of free games a week and the same number of attempts per
challenge, we set one cookie (ec_vid) when you start your first
game or attempt, and we keep a salted hash of your IP address and of a
fingerprint of your browser alongside the games you play. We never store
the IP address itself, we never show it to you or ask you for it, and none
of it is used for advertising or shared with anyone. The cookie lasts a
year; clearing it does not delete your games, it only means we will no
longer recognise you as their owner.
Where Your Data Lives
Your data is stored on your device for now. As the platform grows, we'll move to secure cloud storage, and we'll let you know well before that happens, so you have full visibility.
Deleting Your EliteChess Account
To request that your EliteChess account and its associated data be deleted, email privacy@elitechess.coach from the address on your account, or including the username, and ask us to delete your account. We confirm the request and process it within 30 days.
Deleted: your username, email address, password, profile picture and banner, game history, puzzle and training progress, chat messages, and friend connections.
Kept: records we are required to retain for fraud prevention or legal compliance, kept only as long as the law requires and not used for anything else.
